type='text'>Geology

I wonder what you could use a bunch of GPS devices for, other than screwing around?
Well, in a classroom setting, there are certainly a few options. You could send them on a scavenger hunt, re-enact National Treasure, you could just have them wander around the school aimlessly or have them break into the Main Office in search of comestables. If you want, you could actually have relevant objectives - like - like - um - following a scale map of the world.

Me? I'd do the National Treasure thing. Scatter 12 pieces of literature across the campus, encoded with riddles and ancient arcane magicks. Only by finding at least 11 of the 12 can they Reunite the Giygas Fossil, and discover the location of their prize - 15 extra credit points!

...or I could have them use them as part of a geology exercise.

shes a killer queen

"Hey, Jeremy. What are you going to study, again?"
"Education."
"Oh, that's right. History, right?"
"I changed that. I'm focusing in English now."

The above conversation has been repeated so many times by myself and my peers that it almost seems comedic. But the answer is always the same. A secondary education major with a focus in English. Very few people actually get around to asking my why I am studying that. It's probably for the best, since I usually do not have a coherent answer.
Of course, on the off-day that I got a good night's rest, had time to prepare, and am in a positively euphoric mood, then maybe I can organize my thoughts into why I like teaching.

I think the biggest motivation for me to teach was the luck to have some extraordinary teachers in English and History for the past 8 years. I always had the absolute bet of luck when it came to coherent, talented teachers. I realized that I loved the school environment. It was social, mostly clean, and interactive. There might be cumbersome TPS reports to fill out, but at the same time, there was such a level of communication and social interaction between pupils, teachers, faculty... and so forth.
Very few other jobs to my knowledge have such a motivation to create relationships between the employees. Having to teach someone goes beyond simple 'trust'. A student gives you the responsibility - whether they know it or not - of making sure they are accurately taught, and that they actually learn rather than just sit.
In my opinion, that's one of the most satisfying feelings I can think of.

And that's why I want to be a teacher.

\]\

i know you guys have seen this one. i always thought it was scary. i mean, it's bad enough that you have to take a drug that will shut down your conscious mind -- sleeping is a pretty scary thing in and of itself. but all i can think is that i'm staring at the window at night, waiting for this ghostly winged thing to descend on me and rob me of my senses.

there -- next to that skyscraper. is that it? it's so small. it's just lazing on the wind. maybe that's a piece of paper or... no, no. that's the butterfly. it's coming. it's so small that from this distance, it must be really glowing bright to be visible

oh, it is. it is glowing bright. it's moving more purposefully now, towards my window. soon sleep will be upon me. do i need to open the window, or does it have ways?
